Be A Good Parent Kids Money Ideas

One of those family traditions that seems to survive no matter what is to regularly give kids money. Working out exactly in what form it should be given and earned, and how much should be given can be a challenge though.

Indeed, there are in fact a great number of ideas which can positively empower a family to give an allowance to children. Grandparents are generally seen as an easy touch regards given kids money; almost treating it as a rite and right. Whilst a wonderful gesture however, directly linking the gift with good behavior is always a good idea.

An allowance given from parents should really be handled in a different way however. Whilst irregular increases and bonuses could be given from time to time, the regular amount should be given directly for completing chores.

Nobody really likes being told what to do of course, and that is no more true than in kids. As such, talking to them about what tasks they would like to help with is a good idea. Obviously, there will be silly suggestions, but leading them to think about tasks related to things they enjoy is a good. Budding chefs for example can help prepare meals and, importantly, tidy the kitchen afterwards.

Other interests can of course be entertained. Perhaps a child has a love affair with the garden; here of course the chores speak for themselves. If a home has a family dog; walking, feeding and generally caring for its needs is another great task which most kids will enjoy.

Over time, chores can be increased of course; and more tiresome tasks introduced. From here, an introduction to weekend working is a natural progression. From teaching the value of money to helping explain the importance of financial management, giving kids money in a responsible way is far more than a simple reward.

Many Donors Now Opting For Child Sponsorship

No matter how poor some families are in the UK, their plight pales by comparison with that of so many in under-developed countries where even basics like food, water and healthcare cannot be taken for granted. This is why so many people are moved to donate a little of what they have to try and alleviate the situation. It is easy to just give up and ask yourself what difference you can make to such a massive problem but, by combining your efforts with those of millions of like-minded donors around the world, you are steadily helping to win the war on poverty and extreme deprivation.

Of course, there are still millions living in dire conditions but the number is falling all the time as the relentless work of charities based in the developed world gradually begins to bear fruit. Increasingly it looks as though many people are turning to the idea of child sponsorship as the most effective and mutually fulfilling way of contributing to this effort. Putting money into collecting tins on flag days is not a very personal way of going about things and there is always that doubt as to how much actually finds its way to the coal face.

The great benefit of supporting one of the child sponsorship charities is that you will be actually able to see the difference your support makes at first hand. Sponsorship allows you to connect with a specific child in need and make a profound difference to that child’s life, family and community. Your sponsored child will know your name, write to you and receive benefits like clean water, nutritious food, healthcare and educational opportunities. Just as important is the boost a child receives knowing that he or she has a sponsor from another country who really cares. As the years go by, donors will see from photographs and regular correspondence exactly how they have, quite simply, made a childs life so much better.

Sponsored children tend to keep and treasure the cards and letters they have received from their sponsors. Many of them relate how they often pray for their sponsors and thank God for the blessings their families have received because of this generosity from a foreign land.

Experienced child sponsorship charities have found that, by and large, while each child is individually sponsored, it is better that actual donations are pooled with those of other sponsors to achieve something that provides sustainable benefits to the whole community. That way, no-one feels left out and there is no resentment. The underlying aim of the whole child sponsorship movement is to help children in poorer countries stand on their own two feet so that they, in turn, will one day be sufficiently skilled to provide their own assistance to the community.

How Often Should You Read To Your Child

Sitting down and reading to your child is one of the best ways to ensure a lifelong reader. Long before your child learns how to read, he can still benefit greatly from sitting down with a parent and listening to his favorite books. By listening to the words and looking at the text and pictures on the page, your child is increasing his vocabulary in preparation for talking and reading at a more advanced level. Your child is also following along as you point to words on the page, and he starts to associate the written word with specific meanings. In addition, reading together is an easy, effective way to bond. Children will love the time they get to spend with you and will love the stories that you read to them.

During a typical busy day, it can be hard to know how much reading time is sufficient, how much is too little and how much is ideal. The answer depends on your child’s personality and your usual schedule. When your child is a toddler, you should ideally read together at least once a day. Read for as long as your child seems interested and engaged or as long as your schedule allows.

If your child tends to grow restless, try shorter reading periods two or three times a day. Ten minutes is usually a good length for younger children. Whenever your toddler brings you her favorite book, if possible, you should sit down and read together. As your child grows older and starts to learn how to read, try to stick to a once-daily reading schedule. Eventually, your child may even beg you to read every day!

Older children should have longer attention spans, so you can read for longer periods of time. You can even keep reading to your child after she learns how to read, especially by focusing on books above her reading level. As long as you continue to challenge them, children will improve their reading ability.

By reading as often as possible, you are illustrating the importance and fun of reading and encouraging your child to take the time to become a strong, competent reader. Eventually, the children will take to reading on their own and you will no longer have to read to them. This does not mean an end to reading as a bonding activity. You can read different books at the same time; you can read the same book independently and discuss the story as you go. You can suggest new books to each other as well. Instilling your child with a love of reading can be a lifelong bond that you can both cherish.
So in summary, you should read to your child as often as they possible and for as long as it holds their attention. By demonstrating how important reading is to you and for success in life, your children will learn to respect and enjoy reading.

In addition to this checklist, make sure that your crib is assembled correctly and that screws and bolts are always tight. The safe assembly and upkeep of your child care cribs can ensure that children at your child care center are always safe. In addition, safe cribs can help keep your child care center in business.

Kids Clothes at Red Hill

Many folks think that shopping for childrens clothes is tantamount to a game. What parents do not realize is that they need to take kids clothes shopping very seriously. Parents also need to make sure that their kids are in their right mind when they buy clothes since moods greatly affect how parents and children pick their clothes.

Parents always have to remember that the clothes they should buy for their children should be comfortable. Comfort should first be taken into consideration before style and design when shopping for childrens clothes. Experts recommend that moms buy lightweight kids clothes so their children can freely move and feel comfortable.

Kids clothes should be able to fit well with minimum allowance. In addition to that, clothes that will be chosen shouldnt have drawstrings since it can lead to strangulation hazard. Ribbons or extra buttons should also be notes as they can become a choking hazard. Parents can only gradually buy clothes with drawstrings and buttons if their children are already grown enough to see the possible dangers associated with drawstrings and buttons.

Style is always secondary. Aside from drawstrings and buttons, make sure that the chemical used in creating the design of your kids shirt is safe. The clothes should also be easy to remove most especially during emergency cases.

It is highly suggested that parents purchase clothes at specialized stores for kids since the staff of these stores can very well relate to children. Many moms and dads prefer to shop for kids clothes and kids footwear online. With online shopping, you will save a lot of money, not to mention time and effort, all you have to do is make sure that the clothes fit.

Overprotective Parenting

Overprotective parenting seems to be on the rise, with parents getting increasingly involved in, and ambitious about their childrens activities. Overprotective parenting is often the result of parents forgetting their children are individuals in their own right. Very often, overprotective parenting is a result of parents viewing their kids as an extension of themselves. Everything they wished to achieve, academically or on the sports field, is thrust on their children. The poor kids are expected to shine as superstars instead of just enjoying what they do.

These parents fail to differentiate their children’s desires and feelings from their own. They imagine their perfectly nice kids to be suffering from performance anxiety purely a reflection of their anxiety about the kids performance. Tennis or baseball can never be just a game to be enjoyed with friends. The child has to reach the US Open or Junior League. Parents fail to recognize the childs irritation at their interference, putting it down to sensitivity and anxiety.

Overprotective parenting often results in parents refusing to recognize and accept that their child has done anything wrong. As a result of overprotective parenting, children are condoned for destructive behavior and never have to face the rap for their actions. The parents thus validate unhealthy behavior instead of setting appropriate role models. Anxious parents shield their children from the consequences of their behavior. Thus, the child is always let off the hook, instead of being corrected.

Most children are embarrassed by their parents behavior as they grow older. They also resent the constant interference and anxiety about their performance. They wish the parents would back off and let them figure things out for themselves. Overprotective parents want to take the bumps out of their childrens lives, forgetting it is all a part of growing up. Life is not a spectator sport, and everyone has to go through good and bad experiences. Children learn to cope with failure when they go through a tough patch and they mature as a result of it.

Overprotective parents just focus on their childs achievements, and not the childs development. Kids are embarrassed when parents interfere in school about grades or inclusion in an activity. Parents, however, are obsessed with success, and are often misguided in their goals. In their anxiety, they take away all the discomforts, disappointments and even the fun out of growing up. Unfortunately, this kind of control can make the child go haywire when he or she is away at University, and could even end in alcoholism and drug abuse. Let children bloom at their own pace, and enjoy growing up, instead of overprotecting them.

India’s Children – Akshaya Patra is helping them in the most effective way

Just a few minutes remained for lunch break but Santosh could wait no longer. There are hardly any words to describe the eagerness in the 7th standard student’s eyes as he looked out of the window, waiting for his lesson to be over. As the clock struck noon, Santosh along with his friends, ran into the dining area, ready for piping hot food. It was their favorite Akshaya Patra’s rice and sambhar today.

Like thousands of children across India, Santosh works in the evening at a construction site for a mere pittance. Having lost his mother at a young age, he lives with his uncle, who also works as a mason at the same site. Because he lives with his guardians, he cannot say no when asked to go to work, but fortunately for him, his uncle and aunt do not force him. Santosh wants to become a police officer. He says -I will study whatever it may take to become one.-

Manjunath, his friend, also has a similar story to tell. His father, also a construction worker, puts constant pressure on him to go to work. But, the little boy’s aspiration to become an Engineer spurs him on to finish his education.

However, children like Santosh and Manjunath have many challenges to face their circumstances may force them to drop out of the education system long before they can hope to make their dreams come true. Nearly 13.5 million underprivileged children in India like Manjunath and Santosh are out of school and into child labour in order to earn a single meal in a day. What Akshaya Patra aims to do is give such children the boost they need to make the most of their lives. By providing freshly cooked mid-day meals to poor children, Akshaya Patra is helping them in the most effective way it is providing them with a healthy balanced meal, so they have the energy to pursue their dreams.
